A Changing Decade

Picture
Pop culture in the 1920s was vastly different from the previous decade. Americans were breaking out the Victorian Era and experimenting with new ideas. Also during this time, Americans became in love with the automobile and companies like Ford and GM boomed. With the automobile industry booming, competitors began to invest heavily into advertising. New ways of advertising thus changed how things were sold to consumers. Radio, movies, and airplanes also revolutionized life during this time. Charles Lindbergh became the first man to cross the Atlantic by plane. This opened the floodgates for trans-oceanic travel by plane. Along with new inventions, the 20s also became known as the "Golden Age of Sports". The popularity of baseball during this time increased dramatically and it became known as "America's favorite pastime". This decade was a period of great prosperity and peace for America.
