Harlem Renaissance and Black Independence

Through the 1920s, African Americans were moving north to large cities like Harlem. These African American had to live segregated and were treated poorly. However some of the African American became successful in the arts like jazz. This brought forth the Harlem Renaissance. These African Americans were making a name for themselves and were starting to get chances to work in factories and have other job. The African Americans started to have self pride in their color known as black pride presented by Marcus Garvey.
